OUR DEFINITION:
F.I.R.E.
Financial Investments + Real Estate. Utilize these tools to help you build towards your goals of a rewarding lifestyle.
Oftentimes people only invest in liquid financial investments such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, electronically traded funds (ETFs) etc. Then there are people that believe real estate is the only way to invest. At Build F.I.R.E. we believe both have advantages. The end goal is to put your hard earned money to work and to build wealth and income (both current and future).
It is key to remember that eventually we retire, and need a source of income during retirement. That is where rental income along with social security, IRA, and dividend distributions will all help replace the paycheck you used to receive.
OTHER DEFINITIONS:

ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Mike Sander, founder of Build F.I.R.E. is the son of a financial advisor and accountant. His father started his career with the IRS and was eventually a member of the Criminal Investigation Division CID. After a 13 year career, he opened his own Financial Planning business in 1988. Mike has a deep passion for investing and sharing that enthusiasm with his clients. He started his career as a Financial Analyst for several large consumer product companies but was looking for something different. He wanted to be able to work with people and help them. Seventeen years ago, Mike decided to leave the corporate world and joined his Father’s company, The Creative Planners Group, Ltd. (CPG). Mike and his father grew CPG in order to assist clients in all of their wealth management and tax needs.
Mike had the difficulty of navigating a divorce. While a few clients of his had gone through the ordeal, he never realized how hard it could be. A divorce can be a financial nightmare, but Mike refused to let this bump in the road stop him and he pursued purchasing a two-family home to help offset monthly living costs. What blossomed out of necessity has turned into another passion, this time real estate. Rental real estate has become a big part of Mike’s life, who now owns three investment properties. It’s his goal is to educate clients on why real estate should be a part of their overall financial plan in addition to their liquid investments (stocks, mutual funds, 401Ks, IRAs, etc.). Short-term/vacation real estate has become popular with the advent of AirBnb, HomeAway, VRBO, and other businesses including Evolve which utilizes all of the major vacation sites, and this facet allows owners to utilize their home for personal enjoyment, while adding to their investment portfolio.
